Project Summary
Kelbuild Ltd had the great pleasure of working alongside the Friends of Tullamore Hospital in bringing this third End of Life Suite to fruition. It is a purpose built room & en-suite for parents and families. It is designed to provide a private environment, within which, the sensitive individuality of each patient and their family’s needs are respectfully cared for with compassion and dignity in the most difficult of times, while taking that “clinical” feel away in their final moments. The suite has been furnished to facilitate family members who may wish to stay overnight or visit to support the patient and the family needs with access to a private garden area and kitchen facilities.
Works included a full alteration and renovation of 3 existing rooms to provide a specialised End of Life Suite with en-suite shower room facilities and kitchenette. The shower room was fitted with integrated IPS units, a fully fitted kitchenette & a full mechanical & electrical fitout. Alterations were also carried out on the fire alarm & emergency lighting. The state-of-the-art bed head trunking was integrated into the headboard of the bed to remove that medical feel & to simulate the feel of the patient being at home.
It was paramount for Kelbuild Ltd to execute this project to an impeccable standard as it is such an important element for all patients & families involved. The suite consisted of a fully furnished room, with a TV, internet access & a pull out bed for family & relatives.
On the outside in the courtyard, the existing external timber façade was removed and replaced along with creating a private space for relatives to sit outside in a concealed area.
